Why Great Marsh Was Chosen
The Wedding Story
Brittany & Marcus's Black-Tie Georgian Manor Wedding
Brittany and Marcus fell in love with Great Marsh Estate after watching Netflix’s Love Is Blind Season 7. Seeing the timeless brick façade and soaring stables on screen, they immediately recognized it was the rare Virginia estate capable of hosting their large 195-guest guestlist without compromise.
“We had a big guest list and very high expectations for the food and music,” Marcus explains. “At every other venue we considered, 195 guests meant either being split into small separate dining rooms or putting up a generic marquee tent on the lawn. Great Marsh was the only estate where everyone could be in one stunning, historical room together.”
Their wedding weekend was an unhurried, luxurious affair. Taking full advantage of the estate’s single-wedding-per-day rule, the wedding party arrived early in the morning with total run of the 420-acre grounds.
The ceremony on the South Courtyard featured lush white floral installations climbing the stone balustrades. Following an energetic champagne cocktail hour with an oyster raw bar in the North Courtyard, guests transitioned into the Historic Stables.
The 10-piece Sound Society Band packed the dance floor immediately following dinner, and the celebration carried on into the night with late-night sliders and warm artisan doughnuts by Serendipity Catering.
